Hi, I’m Stephanie and I’m an associate at North Star Therapy. I have been practicing as a social worker for 8 years in a variety of areas including psychotherapy, community outreach, community mental health and addictions as well as crisis work.  I moved into doing individual psychotherapy as I became captivated by my clients’ inherent resilience and capacity to heal.  It is an honour to share in the therapeutic process with my clients and bear witness to their growth.  I believe that, no matter the issue, all of us can benefit from psychotherapy to build and maintain our wellbeing.

My approach is client-centered, meaning it is developed in collaboration with you in order to ensure it is appropriate, effective and fulfilling.  I use a multi-modal approach, incorporating techniques and methods from a variety of  therapeutic styles including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy and Internal Family Systems Therapy, in order to tailor the therapeutic experience to your needs and interests.

In sessions with me, you can expect a warm, non-judgemental and relaxed space to identify and explore patterns in thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and relationships.  Together we can work to disrupt patterns that are no longer serving you, and develop new more adaptive ones to replace them.  While working together my hope is that you feel safe to be yourself and empowered to engage in the process in a way that is meaningful and relevant for you.

A trusting and supportive relationship between therapist and client is the single most important factor in ensuring therapy is effective.  I offer an initial phone consultation free of charge in order for us to see if we are a good match to move through the therapeutic process together.

I look forward to working with you!
